This is a list constructed from my own personal opinion, and also to the best of my recollections. I never realized how hard it was to think about everything that happened this year until you actually sit down and try to do it. Regardless, here is my Best of 2007 List staring of course with the most important:
- Lupe Fiasco – The Cool
- Brother Reade – Rap Music
- Jay-Z – American Gangster
- Talib Kweli – Eardrum
- Ghostface Killah – The Big Doe Rehab
- Paramore – Riot!
- Bloc Party – A Weekend In the City
- Feist – The Reminder
- Tegan and Sara – The Con
- M.I.A. – Kala (which could maybe fit under hip-hop also but I couldn’t justify it taking a way from a more deserved artist that should be in the top 5)
Movies (That I saw, and I’m sorry I couldn’t limit this one to only 5 picks)
- Stomp the Yard
- Hot Rod & Hot Fuzz (These two get lumped together due to similar titles and to save a spot for an extra film)
- American Gangster
- The only books I remember reading this year were textbooks, comic books and all of the Harry Potters
- The Office
- Flight of the Conchords
- 30 Rock
- Man Vs. Wild*
- Curb Your Enthusiasm
*Despite the allegations and shammery that clouded this show, I couldn’t exclude it from the list due to what it stood for as a building block towards brotherhood this past summer.
So there it is. If you have any disputes, air your grievances as necessary.
As long as I am in the mood for posting videos you can peep this eerie little number.
This is it, the 10th day/pair. I debated whether I wanted to put it up today or wait until Christmas day for the last pair, but I figured I would finish it off on the Eve because I’ve got other things to post tomorrow. So without further adieu, this is the end. The Dunks that I have pined for for ages. I wanna ride dirty, flossin’ with Stevie Williams and the rest of the Dirty Ghetto Kids. Nike SB Low Tiffany Dunks. These diamonds are conflict free.
that one day, like the Phoenix arose from the ashes, that a boy would be born unto a family in the slums. This boy would go on to use the knowledge he gained while fighting for survival in the streets to become a great leader and in time that boy would grow to be come…KING
Nike Dunk High Mighty Crowns. This kind of talk is only reserved for the bosses.
I am slacking hard today. I actually woke up with the intent of posting this right away but I got distracted by various things and before I knew it, it was 6:00 PM E.S.T. and I hadn’t put up a damn thing yet. Hopefully the content will make up for the delay. The kicks are sick today, and they were actually introduced as part of a pack called the Crew Pack (which inspired the WMC title) with various colorways, while maintaining the print pattern. I opted for the red and blacks, little LCHS pride, but honestly they are just the sickest of the bunch. The Nike SB Dunk Mid Crew Pack.
Also, this is a little late as I have been caught up in the shoe game, but if you have not heard the new Lupe Fiasco album, The Cool, yet then you need to quit being a blockhead and do your homework.
Somewhere along the lines of 20 to 25 years ago Nike released the “Be True to Your School” Dunk Pack which included classic high-top dunks for seven different colleges. Among the seven were the likes of Kentucky, UNLV, Syracuse, St. John’s, Michigan, Arizona, and IOWA. And now I know I am a little biased being a country boi from Iowa, but I have to say that the black and gold colorway on the Iowa set is sick. So for the 7th day of Kicks-mas I’m calling on the Hawkeyes.
Nothing but respec’ for highlighters, of all colors. Even blue, which in my opinion was never a useful highlighting color, but to each his own. Nike HiTop HiLighter Dunks. Side note: I know there are alternate spellings of “highlighter” and as I was typing this out I couldn’t decide which to use, so if you feel as if you were outraged by my preferential use of the extended version, suck an egg.
Ellsworth, all I can think about is you singing the Muppet version of this song in elementary school
On the 5th day of Kicks-mas, Gabriel Urist gave to me… Fiiiiive Gooollllddd (and silver) Sneaker Chains. Ha, but seriously just trying to have a little fun but if you don’t know who Gabriel Urist is, or haven’t seen his work, check him out. These are my personal favorite in his collection, but he does some sick work.
Today’s pick is bringin’ it cold and calculated. They remind me of when some bad old classic movie star like James Dean rocked a denim jacket to perfection. The Nike HiTop Black Denim Dunks. (May also be available in an acid wash ’80s edition)
