Ghosts of Pugilists’ Past
I have always had an unindulged fascination with boxing. It’s unfortunate that boxing’s stature and impact is not near what it used to be, as no one wants to end up like Muhammad Ali anymore. They also have to compete with prevalence of UFC/MMA fighting and even professional wrestling these days as well. With the exception of a few fighters (Pacquiao, Mayweather) the marquee names of boxing are long gone. The days of Louis, Dempsey, Marciano, Ali, Frazier, Foreman, and even the tarnished image of Mike Tyson, are ghosts of the glory days of a pugilistic past. I want to be ring side for the Rumble in the Jungle but I suppose that Norman Mailer will have to suffice.
