365

I decided to do a “Drawing of the Day” for my 365 project. I won’t post my drawings every day, but I will date them and try to keep it as regular as possible. I am working mostly on post-its, but some graph paper, and really whatever I have available. January 19th is my first one, so I’ll try to get some photos up tonight.

Contemplating a 365 project. Cliche, I know but I want to do it anyway. Any suggestions? Photos (more cliche)? Post-it note drawings? Friendship bracelets? What’s a boy to do?

The Last Meal

Posted in art, photography by arcanedufresne on January 4, 2011

I can’t think of any other words beyond haunting or eerie to describe the photos below. James Reynolds compiled a series of photographs depicting the last meals of various death row inmates. It makes you wonder, if you knew your last meal was coming, what would be on your menu?

I’ve got to take a minute to give some much deserved love and respect to my friend, The Future Cat. She was bestowed the honor of creating one of eleven best pieces of Conan CoCo O’Brien fan artwork. Check out all the honorees here and follow all of The Future Cat’s work here. She is a fantastic artist and individual. Congrats TFC!

Ce Michelin est Indechirable

Before heading to the airport on Monday, my parents and I hit up a dive bar for some food before my travels. They had some really awesome old signs on the wall but this one in particular caught my eye and it sent me on a (dangerous) mission through eBay looking at vintage French and Italian tire and racing posters. Buy it now?

Get Bombed

Posted in art, history by arcanedufresne on December 14, 2010

I’ve always had a love and fascination with the “nose art” (is that what they call it?) on planes, especially World War II bombers. I love the classic pin-up girls, the denotation showing how many enemies you’ve purged from the skies and the names of these flying beasts. Can someone get me in the front of one these like in the first picture?

Fancy Feet Fred Wallerston

Posted in art by arcanedufresne on September 26, 2010

This was a project that came to me on a whim, I wanted to make a fox boxer. I got a little excited when I started, hence why his head is so big, but it was a first trial so maybe we will see more from Frederick Wallerston in the future.

Lanny Lando

Dan Hipp does it again! Just when I thought he couldn’t be any more fun, he drops this Lando-bomb on us and takes it to an entirely next level. Cloud City Level.
